Visa Fraud

Hanover Police recently received a report of an attempted fraud. In this occurrence, the fraudsters contacted the victim claiming to be from Visa (credit card).  The victim was told that there appeared to be fraudulent activity on their credit card and asked for personal banking details. The victim recognized this as a fraud and contacted police. Police are reminding members of the public to never provide personal information over the telephone to unknown persons. When in doubt contact your credit card company yourself to ensure that is whom you are speaking with. If anyone has information about this attempted fraud, they are asked to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a secure Web Tip.
