On Friday, September 16th, 2022, members of the Hanover Police Service responded to a loud house party in the 300 block of 11th Street. On arrival several people left the area on foot. Police located one group of people in a vehicle parked in a nearby parking lot. The driver was observed holding a can of beer. The driver subsequently provided a sample of his breath which resulted in a Fail. The driver was arrested for having Over 80mgs of Alcohol in his system. A search of the same driver resulted in the seizure of a prohibited knife (spring loaded). The driver provided samples of his breath at the police station which were above the legal limit of allowed alcohol. Hanover Police have charged the 18-year-old South Bruce man under the Criminal Code regarding the alcohol and possessing a weapon. The man was later released with an upcoming court date in Walkerton. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded.
