On Wednesday, August 10^th, 2022, Hanover Police responded to an unwanted person call in the 200 block of 7^th Avenue. The caller was a Town of Hanover employee. The unwanted person was sitting inside his vehicle refusing to vacate private property. It was further alleged that the unwanted person took property belonging to the town employee and refused to give it back. Police responded and had conversation with a 69-year-old man of no fixed address. He refused to return the callers property or leave the property as directed. Police negotiated for some time but the man continued to refuse police directions. Police were required to forcibly remove the man from his vehicle. The man has been charged under the Criminal Code with Theft, and Resisting Arrest. He was further charged under the Trespass to Property Act with Failure to Leave when Directed. The man has an upcoming court date in Walkerton
