Grandparent Scheme

Hanover Police have recently received a report of an attempted fraud. The fraudsters in this occurrence contacted an elderly person claiming to be with the RCMP. The caller told the elderly person that their grandchild had been arrested and was in need of “bail money” to secure their release. The person recognized this as a scam and hung up the phone. Hanover Police are reminding citizens to speak with venerable family members and alert them of this common fraud.  If anyone has information about this Fraud they are asked to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a secure Web Tip.
