Hanover Police continue to investigate an attempted telephone fraud, which occurred on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022. In this fraud, the victim was contacted by an unknown female claiming to be from “Ontario Assisted Company”. The female said the victim qualified for a “carbon emissions” rebate. When the victim said that she was not comfortable providing banking information the caller hung up the phone. This is a suspected fraud. Police are cautioning citizens to not provide banking or other personal information over the phone to unverified people. If anyone has information about this fraud, they are asked to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a secure Web Tip.
