The Hanover Police Service is comprised of 14 full-time police officers, 3 part-time police officers and two special constables who provide policing services to the Town of Hanover.

Special Constable

Reporting to a Hanover Police Service Supervisor, responsibilities for this position will include but not be limited to:

  • Front counter and telephone reception
  • Office administration and records management
  • Background checks processing
  • Assist with coordinating freedom of information
  • Prisoner care and control (monitoring and assist with prisoner searches)
  • Fleet management
  • Seized property management (assist Property Manager with seized property)
  • Police reporting
  • Transcribing of audio recordings and court brief preparation
  • Assist with payroll on an electronic payroll program known as DayForce
  • Ongoing professional development that includes use of force training requirements
  • The Special Constable position is normal administrative hours with the possibility for some modified shifts depending on the needs of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Related post-secondary education in office administration
  • Related job experience working in a dynamic office setting
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills with the ability to learn new and specific computer programs
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, initiative, time management and planning skills
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Transcribing skills would be an asset
  • Willingness to learn job specific skills
  • Willing to submit to a complete background check prior to any offer of employment

 

Start Date/Hours

The anticipated start date is June 22nd, 2020. The hours of work may require some flexibility with a minimum of 32/hours per week with a potential of 40/hours.

NOTE: Interviews and other assessments will take place on April 16 and April 23, 2020. Psychological Testing will take place on May 12, 2020 in the City of Toronto. A tentative start date for this position will be June 22, 2020.
