Hanover Police continue to investigate an attempted cyber extortion, which occurred on Friday, April 15th, 2022. In this extortion, the victim befriended someone he met online. The victim was requested to share intimate pictures, which he did. The person being communicated with then demanded money or they would release the photographs to the victim’s email contact list. Hanover Police are reminding everyone to NEVER share intimate pictures that will later embarrass you if they are intentionally or unintentionally released. If anyone has information about this extortion, they are asked to contact the Hanover Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by submitting a secure Web Tip.
