Anti-Lockdown Protest in Hanover

On Saturday, April 17th, 2021, at about 4:00 p.m., a group of about 40 people gathered near Hanover Park on 7th Avenue in protest of the COVID-related provincial stay-at-home order and other health unit guidelines.
The group was peaceful and marched, many with signs, south on 7th Avenue, then east on 10th Street to Heritage Square where they stayed for about 15 minutes before returning to Hanover Park and dispersing. The rally was comprised of men and women of all ages along with a handful young adults and children. For the most part, the participants maintained social distancing but none were wearing face masks.
Hanover Police monitored the group and currently have this matter under investigation. Charges are pending against the event organizers and others under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
